Introduction

We are two passionate educators with over 40 years of combined teaching experience, and we’re embarking on an exciting journey to open a microschool for K-5 learners! Our vision is to create a nurturing, innovative learning environment that prioritizes arts, creativity, imagination, personalized instruction, and collaboration. With your support, we can turn this dream into a reality and offer children a truly transformative educational experience.

Why a Microschool?

Traditional classrooms often struggle to meet the diverse needs of all students. Our microschool model is designed to:

• Provide individualized and small group instruction tailored to each child’s strengths and needs.  Our student-to-teacher ratio will not exceed 15-to-1.  We believe in the importance of developing deeper relationships with our students.  Our instruction and pacing will be personalized; students will move on when ready, and take more time as needed.

• Incorporate the arts into daily learning, fostering creativity and self-expression.

• Encourage collaboration and problem-solving through hands-on, project-based activities.  Kids are meant to sit at a desk all day!

• Offer a supportive, inclusive environment where children can thrive.

• Provide a multi-age environment, much like a one-room schoolhouse, in which students can practice real-world relationships and gain healthier social skills by interacting with kids who are both older and younger.

• Eliminate "busy work" and unrealistic homework expectations.  If a student hasn't mastered a concept at school, it doesn't make sense to send it home without access to the right support.

• Create flexible learning by providing more meaningful 1-on-1 time with teachers and deeper levels of learning in less time.

Our Expertise

Together, we bring decades of experience in education, specializing in reading and writing instruction, special education, and fostering creativity in young learners. We hold master’s degrees in these areas and have seen firsthand the difference personalized, imaginative approaches make in a child’s growth and confidence.  We are dual-licensed in Elementary and Special Education by the state of Minnesota and have field and classroom experience at all grade levels K-5.
